Telogen Effluvium is a medical term used for hair fall. It is temporary hair loss that usually happens after stress, a shock, or a traumatic event. It usually occurs on the scalp.
There is large amount of hair fall in this condition but it's is usually temporary and hairs usually grow back.
Chronic telogen effluvium is described as when a person reports hair fall for more than 6 months. It occurs more often in women.
Symptoms
The main symptom of telogen effluvium is increase in the amount of hair a person sheds.
Someone may notice that more hair than usual is falling out when they wash or brush their hair. They may also find more hair in the drain or on their pillow.
Treatment for telogen effluvium is identifying the underlying cause triggering the hair loss. Once the cause has been established and addressed, the hair cycle returns to normal and hair will start to grow back.
